Deucy The Two-Faced Kitten

UPDATE – Sadly Deucy has passed away, just like many two-headed cats before her. Rest in peace, Deucy!

June 24, 2013 – Deucy the kitten is very special for several reasons: not only was she born at 6:11 a.m. on 6/11 (June 6) in Amity, Oregon, but she also has four eyes, two noses, and two mouths!

Deucy is a two-faced kitten, or a Janus cat. She is not the first kitten to be born with two faces, but she is very rare. Janus cats also do not usually live very long because they often have other abnormalities. Sometimes they are unable to eat or their organs will shut down, but Deucy has beaten the odds so far.

The longest living Janus cat, Frankenlouie, a grey cat with three eyes, two noses, and two mouths, is 12 years old and has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records!

It is too early to tell if Deucy will live even half as long as Frankenlouie, but veterinarians say that she seems to be healthy and has a good chance of living a normal life.
